Regional conference – Sarajevo


Background information
The general objective of the project Technical Assistance for Civil Society Organisations (TACSO) is to strengthen the civil society within a participative democracy, to stimulate a civil society-friendly environment and culture, as well as to strengthen the overall capacities and accountability of Civil Society Organisations (CSO) within IPA beneficiaries (Western Balkans and Turkey), to guarantee the quality of service of CSOs and a sustainable role of the CSOs in the democratic process.

Objectives and focus
The overall objective of the conference is to contribute to the structured participation of regional CSO networks in the accession process of the Western Balkan (WB) and Turkey to the European Union. More specifically, it is planned to bring representatives of the key regional CSO networks in the WB and Turkey and their constituencies together with other relevant stakeholders in order to initiate a dialogue related to demands for actions and services provided by the regional CSO networks and what they can actually supply in EU accession context.

The conference will focus on the following:
• Exchanging perspectives and identifying needs for the regional CSO networks interventions in bringing the Western Balkans and Turkey closer to the EU
• Learning about the best practices and challenges from some of the EU networks and regional networks in Western Balkans and Turkey
• Considering where the regional networks are now and how they should develop in the future in order to have greater participation in the EU accession context.
Conclusions and recommendations drawn will provide the basis for the follow-up actions to be undertaken regionally as well as in the individual countries in order to support the greater participation of the regional CSO networks in context of the EU accession and in implementation of the RCC strategy.

Who can apply?
Regional CSO network is eligible to apply if:
• a network is informal, or formally registered or is in the process of formalization, and
• its base country is one of the IPA countries, and
• an area of its actions include the countries of the Western Balkans and Turkey, and
• member organizations of a network come solely from at least two countries from Western Balkans and Turkey.

Each organization interested in this regional conference will nominate:
• an individual to participate as a representative from the network
• an individual to participate as a representative of a network’s member organization that is based in BiH.
